Deafblind Interpreters

A DeafBlind interpreter is a highly trained professional who provides communication support for individuals that have both hearing and vision loss. These interpreters use various methods to facilitate communication, such as tactile sign language, close vision interpreting, visual frame, and/or haptic communication. The communication method for DeafBlind people is usually very individual.

STTRs & Lipspeakers

STTRs and Lipspeakers are two different types of communication support professionals. STTRs (Speech-to-Text Reporters) use specialised software and either palantype or stenography techniques to provide a real-time transcription of spoken language into written text. Lipspeakers, are trained professionals who use a combination of lipspeaking and visual cues to enable the person using their services to lipread them.
